Volume confirmation when ASX mid-caps go quiet
Practical volume checks for technical analysis on thinner ASX mid-caps, drawn from Auto Workflow Sys classroom examples.
Mid-caps on the ASX can print tidy candle patterns on days when almost nobody traded. Structure without participation is decoration. Our instructors treat volume as a second vote, never a standalone entry.
Compare to the stock’s own history
Relative volume against that symbol’s twenty-session median beats any generic “high volume” label. A bar that looks busy on an index chart may be ordinary for a liquid large-cap and extraordinary for a mid-cap.
Watch the break bar, not the celebration bar
The session that first closes through structure should carry the expansion. The next day’s follow-through can be quieter. Students often reverse this and wait for a loud day that arrives after the move is spent.
Pair with mentoring when your journal disagrees
If your notes keep celebrating quiet breakouts, book Private Chart Mentoring with three recent mid-cap examples. We will mark where participation was missing before price reversed.
